We love to hear how you’re celebrating Maths Week London in your school! We asked Bishop Challoner Federation of Schools to share what they’ve got planned.

As part of our curriculum intent within Maths at Bishop Challoner, we want to improve our students confidence in mathematics; we want to demonstrate to them the value of maths as a life long skill by linking it to the wider world (via curriculum enrichment activities led by Universities and/or employers) as well as having a sense of fun and wonderment along the way.

Our Maths Week London programme hopes to target all of the above intents through a series of external visits to partner institutions e.g. St Paul’s School annual Maths Circle, The University of Greenwich’s annual ‘Greenwich Mean Time’ Summer taster day programme for Schools; running a Photo Competition (Theme: Maths is all around us) whereby students capture maths happening in the real world using a camera or their mobile device; Championing numeracy via a Countdown – Speed Maths challenge; the launching of our Robotics and coding club (using money won from the MWL Small Grants scheme) for Girls in KS3; running a bespoke taster day event at Bishop Challoner for two local Primary Schools in the Borough of Tower Hamlets (with invited guest speaker Rob Eastaway).
